I’m hiking for some astrophotography shots
Yes I’m bringing a light and a backup light
No, I’m not completely insane
This is why we need to all start using 24 hour. I’m leaving for a hike at 16:00. Great, I won’t be coming, thank you for being clear and concise and avoiding an unnecessary conversation about exactly what time.
I’d be horrified if it was actually 4AM. I could never wake that early, let alone for a hike
Yeah 4am hikes are brutal even with prep
Sometimes though they’re needed for the best views
I head to the beach maybe at 8, no later than 9, during the summer to make sure I get a good spot setup before the stars really come out. Could be as early as 5 in the winter. I lost interest in astrophotography though and have found joy hunting DSOs with binoculars and generally just existing
What does DSO stand for?
I believe it stands for Deep Space Objects
Astrophotography gang
Plenty of daylight left to go hiking at 4PM.
It was about a 3 hour drive and a 12 mile trail.
Those woods got dark fast.
Also turns out that wolves are back on the area after being gone for decades. That was a fun discovery. I didn’t take any pictures of them, I was more concerned with getting out of there in one piece.
