And his name is John HEMA
Me in Mordhau (I’m the one dying on the floor):
I spent a week trying to get back into Mordhau and once again quit because I’m just so bad at it…
I know the feeling…
It’s so good, but so hard. Here’s something that has helped me recently. I start a local Team Deathmatch, join red with a training sword, get into a corner next to a supply box, and then ` to get console and “AddBotsTeam 2 1”. It’s really helping me with my double parry/chain parry and keeping my vision processing more than 1 attack at a time. I’ll then give myself a real weapon and have 4 enemies at a time from the same place and just try to survive.
Hard to believe the epic thrash metal poster is a Mord fan.
What could be more metal than decapitating a bard with a battle-axe, listening to Code of the Slashers?

Yeah, in all honesty, I was never good at this game, so calling me a fan is a stretch. It is great fun though.
Tbh in modern day a chair is a better defence option than a knife. Much better at holding ground and safer to use.
Spoken like someone that’s never had its fingers pinched by a chair.
It’s all about reach
Cena moment.
I’m pretty sure that’s SCA, not HEMA
Ya, HEMA would be dudes in modern plastic protective gear, maybe wearing a gambeson. Some people who do both would sometimes use metal gloves, but never a full set of armor.

What’s it called when people re-enact battles? Not larping or war gaming - stuck in the back of my mind
Generally just called re-enactment if it’s supposed to be a strict representation of the battle. There are lot of Civil War re-enactments here in the US, and some of them get pretty rigorous, timing things down to the minute as they happened in the course of the battle.
What’s HEMA if not the Dutch department store?
Medieval wrestling?
