Don’t look up the Henderson tool
It’s a method of preservation that uses what sounds like a sort of play on words (not going to research the etymology) by curing the meat of any pathogens infecting it. The process generally involves adding enough salt, either by brining it (wet), or burying it in salt (dry) to make it a more inhospitable environment for bacteria.
The idea of the meme is that while smoking tobacco damages our body and can cause life-long diseases (the opposite of a cure), smoking a piece of meat would “cure” it.
Though, AFAIK the meme isn’t really correct as smoking ≠ curing, seeing how a cut of meat is usually “cured” or salted first before smoking it. While cold/hot smoking (primarily cold) does help to pull moisture out and adds antibacterial compounds, my experience is that the two are separate preservation techniques, yet are commonly used together.
I see those as good, pretty much only if you are hurting for cash while being unemployed and looking. (And given that most if not all states in the US are at-will, you can resign when you find a better position.)
Australia, right?
That was just so they could study the microbiome in the tick’s gut without the bacteria on it’s surface contaminating the sample.
Overhead?
It comes from years of playing games that suddenly ask for a random item that is a pita to farm
I know from working in manufacturing, at least, that people like to abuse excel and try to use it as a DB client
Fell asleep doing “the wave”
Win11 didn’t even know what to do with my Intel (of all brands) WiFi chip.
Win10, Kubuntu, and mint all detected it without needing to download and transfer the driver with my phone in order to start the updates after install.
CBD was unfortunately on the ban list when he got in trouble. It was only just removed a decade later in 2019.
It’s also one of the few chemicals in cannabis that can affect performance, unlike THC which just bugs me. Like they are almost picking and choosing, purely to just be finicky
I would say that rule should only apply to purposefully taking something for an unfair advantage to juke the competition, like most steroids.
For the ones where the only reported reasoning is being harmful to the user or has a potential for abuse, I would say the decision be on a case by case basis.
My reasoning is that there are also people who’ve turned their lives around and quit the substances in question. Being banned when you are fully “legit” would be extremely demotivational and can increase relapsing. It could also be controversial to one of the ideals of the Olympics; overcoming adversity to be the best you can be.
I’d be more afraid of an aggressive cat over an aggressive dog. The latter are usually easier to trick and can hopefully be herded to somewhere where they can be trapped. Cats however…
They help with sensory/stress/emotional overload by purposefully being understimulating. Think of them as a nice quiet and secluded place to collect your thoughts and help your mind calm down/relax.
Edit: (stupid autocorrect)
They don’t really mention if it’s illegal or not to their reasoning. They only use three parameters for the decision.
They argue for points 2 (health risk) and 3 (commonly abused), both of which cigarettes and alcohol fit right in, but are unrestricted.
That would make sense if they were looking for CBD, which is the chemical that causes the relaxing effect of weed, not THC which more or less just gives the “high” feeling. You can easily get CBD from hemp and WADA actually removed it from their ban list in 2019.
There are also plenty of allowed substances that can help you relax, even prescription-only. They would have to ban things like; alcohol (never gonna happen), dramamine (antiemetic), diphenhydramine (antihistamine), gabapentin (anticonvulsant, Rx-only), etc… These, while primarily used for other purposes, all are occasionally used for their sedating effects and to my knowledge are all allowed.
There was also the argument that while yes, it does help with relaxing, it will actually decrease performance on the whole.
Meanwhile Sha’Carri (US running) was DQ’d previously for having THC in her system. Still trying to wrap my head around how pot can help you run faster.
They weren’t concerned about CBD or anything else, just the psychoactive THC.
The best method (including Soylent) is adding 2.5-4cm (1"1.5") of water to the shaker bottle, adding the powder, tapping the bottle on the counter a couple times, then topping off with water. Once filled, replace the top, give it a good shake, let it sit for a minute or two, and then give it a final shake to get the last bit off the side.
This method prevents the powder from sticking to the inside edge around the base or to the top and reduces the shaking needed. If you’re really hungry, with Soylent, you can actually use up to 105g (3.5 scoops) of powder in the standard sized shaker bottle and it will still mix properly if you finish adding water after replacing the top to a little below the flip-cap opening.
