It sucks knowing there’s going to be kids indoctrinated like this. I don’t honestly understand the Russians’ long-term goals either. At this point, they’re self destructing. I don’t see how this can end well for anyone involved

A few coworkers were talking about some new LLM that can create realistic sounding podcasts. Aside from a few vocal blunders, it was getting difficult to tell if the voices were AI or not. It’s getting concerning at this point.
I know not to trust stuff. But there’s so many people who just trust things or get fooled (even if they do know better). After hearing that generated podcast, im sure I’ll be fooled soon enough. It’s already exhausting and the worst part hasn’t come yet lol
That’s interesting! I have never heard of it before. I’ll have to look into it further. Thank you!
I’ve dealt with depression and anxiety for most of my life. Nothing that I would describe as dangerous, but enough to be an annoyance/interference.
The cognitive behavioral therapy I did was nothing like this. It also didn’t help me much or at all. Exciting to see that they are able to actually measure significant changes in the brain. Hopefully, this can help more people and also help develop more treatments
Amazon had been selling radioactive jewlery
Dude, what a bummer. Like, I’m glad we have lemmy but there’s certain subs and such that reddit had that aren’t available here.
On one hand it has completely cured my reddit addiction, which is awesome. I’ve put a lot of time into more productive endeavors. But on the other hand, I do miss finding niche subs that had amazing communities.
Aaron Swartz wouldn’t have wanted this
Right now, companies are chasing LLM’s and subscription services. I’m terrified of what’s going to come next, lol. At what point does late stage capitalism stop?
I’m Canadian but was surprised to recently see two types of onigiri in my local 7/11. I looked at it in shock, and then sighed because I would absolutely love that. But there’s no way in hell I’m eating that from a gas station.
I would end up like Fry from Futurama, but instead of worms that make me smart, knowing my luck, I would get a parasite/illness that puts me in a coma lol.
After I looked at it, I walked over to the slurpee machines and grimaced at the thought of gas station sushi while noticing how the floors are perpetually sticky/ moist and nothing looks clean
I did, however, notice slurpee themed merch, and I’m tempted to buy a shirt
I’ve been tasked with some notion testing and research this week. I tried asking chat gpt some simple questions, and it kept feeding me this exact scenario over and over. I guess notion doesn’t like any kind of recursion. Or at least not without extensions being added.
Offline, I’ve seen an increase in hostility after the pandemic. Mainly, people just being rude or outright hostile to each other in public. Completely anecdotal, of course, but it was less common prior to the pandemic and all of this weird political landscape.
I would like some of that “happy” please. It sounds nice
I think it might be easier to point out the foods that aren’t poison at this point lol

This was an insightful read. Thanks for sharing!
Honestly, I have no idea how valid/effective the Chinese vaccine is. But stuff like this is bad for everyone, not just the people they were targeting. Short sighted plan, in my opinion.
Even more disturbing if it caused extra deaths.
Oh, absolutely. We’re all subject to it. Even in ways that might confirm our own biases. It’s good to stop and try to think about what we’re reading/being told etc. But I think it’s super easy to not even realize
If I may chime in, I believe you’re both correct in your own ways. Russia is being controlled through very “in your face” propaganda. America also, in many ways, is very controlling and also gets away with its fair share of atrocious behavior.
In my opinion, it’s a spectrum or a big circle. Instead of being “left or right”, they both circle around to their own variation of authoritarianism.
(although I would say the USA is slightly better off, for the time being, at least. I don’t think they’re quite as bad, but some aspects are indeed just as bad. But I have not visited Russia, so my perspective is skewed based purely on what I read about it.)
I wish the internet archive didn’t pick that battle with these companies. I don’t have faith that they will win when the government sides with corporations so frequently. I hope they have a way to dump everything to the public to be backed up. I fear if they were taken down we would lose all that important information
Stuff like this has kind of made me partially give up and settle in a sub-par job. There’s always job listings like this. Of course, I still apply, but man, after getting ghosted more times than I can count over the years, I don’t look at listing regularly anymore. I find it just makes me depressed.
Oh damn. Thank you! I’ll have to do this at some point…eventually lol
