I going about the shelter thing, a few years ago they did a study and there was not a single shelter for men in the country.

And I get it, it’s important to take care of women, sure, but when somebody tried to start a support shelter for men there was a massive public outcry about it.

And even if you had the time and inclination to for instance start a men’s only gym, why would you risk all of that time and effort on the odd chance that you would offend a person who has a following and knows how to raise a Battle cry and next thing you know you’ve got a hundred angry protesters outside of your gym even though there are five female only gyms within walking distance because you have a men’s only gym.

It’s much easier to create a space that’s just slightly uninviting for the average woman and then let the chips fall where they may.

It’s easier to pass the buck and say somebody else will take care of the guys. We don’t need to build men’s only shelters. Guys are more resilient than women. Guys aren’t as at risk as women are. Guys are shitty people in general and life gives them so many breaks, they don’t need any additional support while there are still women who have needs.

Let’s not start a men’s only club because all it takes is one woman getting upset and suing us for discrimination and next thing we know we are out $250,000 in lawyer fees all because we wanted to have a boys space.

Let’s just let all of the men suffer in silence forever and ever. They’ll be okay they’ll just rub some dirt in it and move on.

I would say the most polarizing thing I’ve ever said at least in an online community is that there should be spaces specifically for men to congregate where they can talk about their issues among like-minded men.

This was in response to me discovering that of the eight gyms within a 10 mile radius of my home, three of them are all gender gyms and five of them are women’s only gyms.

Of the associations in my area, places where people of like-minded orientation congregate, 4 of them are all gender, 12 of them are female only.

There are no male only semi-private spaces that I can find within a 25 mile radius of my home and I live in a city of over 500,000 people.

Of the multitude of homeless housing, homelessness support, soup kitchen, and other resources for the incredibly poor and disaffected, roughly half of them are explicitly female only, and all of the remainder are all gender with a preference for supporting women.

To me this is especially terrifying because of the homeless population that I have encountered only a vanishingly small fraction of them are women. The great majority by and far of the maybe 40 or 60 homeless people I have seen in the last year have been male.

If it is okay for women to have women only spaces why is it not okay for men to have men only spaces?

If that’s the case you’ll need to see what kind of voltage it’s putting out to those wires and then you would want to splice those wires into diodes to prevent the current from leaking backwards out of the capacitors. Then attach as many capacitors as you need for the voltage that it is providing, remembering that it is okay to have higher voltage ratings but not lower voltage ratings.

Chances are this will cause the light to be less bright as the capacitors are charging, so for the first few moments when you are riding it probably will be less bright but after the capacitors reach a steady charge you should see the light take a much longer time to dim down.

I think the largest issue you’ll run into is figuring out how to wire it. It definitely sounds like a fun project and possibly an opportunity to try out some of the inexpensive super caps that you can get on eBay for like 3 bucks a piece.

The only caveat I can think of is that you might need to find out how much voltage the generator puts out, as you definitely don’t want to pump more voltage into them than they are rated for.

To do that I would open the device and hook up a multimeter to the Dynamo and then spin it as hard as I can and figure out what it’s peak voltage is and then purchase and or design your super capacitor bank to handle its peak maximum.

You should also check and see if the device has some sort of rectifier, as Dynamo output is typically AC and LED lights are typically DC, so there is likely some sort of rectification. If you do have a rectifier I would measure it after the rectifier.

It may already also have a capacitor in it, in which case you could simply desolder that capacitor and then set up some breakout cables and run those outside of the case into your bank.

You can definitely empty them and put them back, you just have to replace them when they tear otherwise all it’s going to do is suck the dust up off your floor and blow it around inside your vacuum, contaminate your vacuum fan and motor and eventually render the vacuum cleaner inoperable and possibly flammable.

There is a treatment for that that involves like baking soda and aluminum foil and UV light. I think it’s called retrobrite. Might be worth looking into but at the same time if you’re going to do that you might have other repairs you would need to make on the machine.

If only one religion is right, then the God of that religion is either evil or an asshole or not all knowing and all powerful.

If you think about it, and all knowing all powerful God that allows a gigantic portion of his beloved children to live in complete and total ignorance for their entire lives without even the chance of ever knowing the truth would be a terrible asshole at best, and that’s only assuming that he doesn’t throw everyone that doesn’t get the truth he didn’t give them into hell forever.

Of course that only covers the abrahamic religions. I feel like Zoroastrianism would probably still be okay because as little of it as I understand it seems to be more like the world is a stage where a chess game is being played and each piece moves as it will and the battling deities over watching the game can only make so many moves each to keep it fair.

Buddhism can’t really complain about it other than that it sucks that we’re all currently stuck in hell and having to live tens of thousands of lives until we’re allowed to get out, seems like more people should make it out as time goes by.

I tried navidrome but the issue I ran into is that it would not play individual songs or sort through them, it would just play my albums in alphabetical order.

And I don’t know as far as jelly fin goes, I like it as a video platform but for music I couldn’t get it to just randomly display the songs and let me shuffle through them.

I’m looking for a music server that can see all of my songs and music and shuffle them and play them. Does anything like that exist?
