So… what’re your guys favorite alternatives?

The ones I’m aware of but haven’t used much are:

  • english-subtitles (dot) org
  • opensubtitles (dot) org
  • subdl (dot) com
  • my-subs (dot) co
  • podnapisi (dot) net
  • subtitlecat (dot) com - mostly for translations. Otherwise I generally avoid this one since I prefer my subs to be spot-on.
  • yifysubtitles (dot) me

Happy to hear complaints on any to avoid too.

    The-Eye has already backed up all of Subscene into a torrent. Only 90GB.

    Download the backup and never need to find subs (for older content) again

      fucking nice… is that on their public eu domain? having trouble finding it but probably looking in the wrong places

      anyone feels like pm my dumbass the loc or give a hint, i’d appreciate it

      edit: also tried dht (qbittorrent, solidtorrents) but no joy there either

      edit3: had a few drinks and forgot to add the one i got from eu domain… brought qbit up again after i sobered up and it still had the dht search open and so I figured why not and retried it… and now it was showing up there too (via bt4g dot org). go figure

      now i just need to free up enough space to acually dl it (it has things packaged as multiple ~8GB .7z files, so anybody who was hping to pick-and-choose based on what you want subs for, sorry to disappoint; gotta dl whole thing)

    OK going through the comments seems like something fishy is going on. lots of people willing to take it over and no answer to why it has to be shut down

      well, also it was not long ago with a short-time frame…

      If it all turns out to be a prank / main account was hacked / etc, great … but could see someone who expects a lot of negative feedback or even somene who have a lot going on offline not really bothering to look at commentss

      plus we all knw silent legal / state presure is a thing… rarbg, kat, and many others had people willing to take over but ithink they got legal pressure to stop.

      my plan is just have a few glasses of boubron and relax. we are hydra and all that lol

        Yeah I agree but why hide it if legal pressure unless they are threatening him but still just seems weird or like some sort of power move.

        Also there is a dump of all the sub’s on there from 2 months ago linked in the comments there so atleast we can grab that and redistribute without having to restart

            OK so its a power move IMO because he could easily sell it to someone else or accept the many offers of covering it for him.

            A comment in that thread said subdl has all subscene uploads now as well so looks like thatll be the place

    Sad news if true. Subscene had a few very consistent and committed uploaders for Korean subtitles that would share community subtitles from Cineaste, in addition to the retail stuff. For that reason I always found it to be one of the best overall subtitle sites. Rarely did I need to go elsewhere.
