  • Yeah, and what about mpg on gas cars! or battery life on phones! Or longevity of light bulbs! Or number of prints for ink sources! Or how many miles a tire should last!

I get where you’re coming from but two of your examples are agreeing with their point. They’re asking for a better standardization for an electric cars overall efficiency same as ice vehicles using mpg and lightbulbs using number of hours they are expected to last.

By just stating the range of a vehicle they are removing the ability to do a good compare and contrast across all electric vehicle. For example, the electric Hummer has a EPA est. range of 329 miles while CyberTruck has a range 320 miles. By using only range both seem comparable but the Hummer achieves its range with a 212 KWh battery pack vs the CyberTrucks 100 KWh battery pack. It’s the ICE vehicle equivalent of a car stating that it gets 500 miles per gas tank. Yeah sure the vehicle can go 500 miles between fill ups but if the car only gets 10 miles to the gallon that’s going to be one hell of gas bill. The solution here is for all EVs to list their battery size and its Miles per Gallon equivalent (mpge) thus allowing buyers to efficiently compare two vehicles no matter battery pack size difference.

  • “Florida gun owners encouraged to ‘shoot the storm’ and fire their guns at Hurricane Irma

By Harriet Alexander New York 9 September 2017 • 8:47am Shoot at Irma A Florida man who suggested shooting guns at Hurricane Irma out of “stress and boredom” has found that his idea has captured peoples’ imaginations - with over 46,000 signing up to join in.

Hurricane Irma is due to hit Florida on Saturday, and the state is currently experiencing the largest ever mass evacuation due to a hurricane in American history.

But Ryon Edwards, 22, came up with a novel way of amusing himself during the storm: firing bullets into it.

He started a Facebook “event”, and as of Friday evening 46,000 people say they are interested.

“A combination of stress and boredom made me start the event,” he told the BBC.

"The response is a complete and total surprise to me.

“I never envisioned this event becoming some kind of crazy idea larger than myself. It has become something a little out of my control.”

The “Shoot at Irma” page Graphics suggesting how to shoot at a hurricane have sprung up online, with the suggestion that if you fire correctly the bullet might not come back and kill you.

Since Mr Edwards came up with his “masterplan”, other similar Facebook pages have been created - including one suggesting using flame throwers to scare away the storm.

“It’s time we took a stand against this bully!” reads the event description. "This is our home, nobody drives us out of our own territory.

“Join me in this fight as we shoot flames at Hurricane Irma and dissipate her on the spot.””

  • My 6s still gets software support, does it run the latest OS? No, of course not and nor should it. But Apple is still supporting/supplying my old ass iPhone general software/security updates. It’s in a company’s best interest to get customers to purchase their latest products but that shouldn’t undercut their commitment to their older products. I have stayed an Apple customer not because of their new products but because of the longevity of their old products/ support for said products.
