Human reaction time is ~0.25 seconds.
At 20 mph, you’re going ~29 ft per second, so you go ~7.3 ft before you can react.
At 25 mph, that’s ~37 ft per second, so ~9.2 ft before you can react.

The internet says a good car can break at about 15 f/s^2.
At 29 f/s, that comes out to a stopping distance of ~28 ft.
    At 37 f/s, that’s ~46 ft.

So Anne, who’s annoying for some reason, needs a total of ~35 ft to stop just before hitting the child.
Norman needs ~9 ft to start decelerating, so by the time he reaches the 35 ft mark (after ~26 ft of hitting the brakes,) it’s been a total of ~0.98 seconds, and he is going ~26 f/s, which is ~18 miles per hour.

Dwarves really get the short end of the stick. They’re not “greedy” for digging too deep, it’s literally what they were made to do. Their whole economy depends on mining. What do you want them to do, grow crops? With what farmland? The elves and halflings took it all. And elves never awaken ancient evils of the forest by growing trees too tall, and halflings never face the consequences of their greed in eating too much. Dwarves spend all day working so they can survive, and the stories call them evil. Elves spend all day lazing around in their vacation homes, and if you complain, somehow you’re the bad guy.

I’ve been blocking political communities, so I don’t get so much of this. I would recommend you also block communities that annoy you. We’re in the same boat of browsing by top X hours.

Solarpunk doesn’t really bug me though because it’s (supposed to be) more about the good that could be rather than complaining about what is. (Don’t get me wrong, complaints can be valid, but that’s not what I come to Lemmy for.)
