Same. I’m ‘all-in’ when it comes to Lemmy, but I only subscribed to a dozen subreddits I remember enjoying, and that’s it. Now I simply either sub to a new Com when I stumble upon it, or search for it after remembering a specific subreddit.
I’d rather leave Apollo/Reddit behind 🤷♂️
I wonder the same thing. All the kids stuff has their place, so everything can be put back into place, but I imagine that has to be done before cleaners come in as they don’t know where stuff is supposed to go (or they clean around it? …which would be super half-assed)?
Was wondering the same 🤔
Gross generalization, but point taken.
With all due respect, countering a sentiment with “but look how bad these people have it” or “it could always be worse” is rarely (if ever) helpful.
A little bit, absolutely! Not to be too cynical but eventually this feeling will wane a bit. 7yrs in I still think I have a cool/chill job (dev)—and comparatively I make “good” money—but it’s still a job; I don’t code in my free time anymore. Once I’m done for the day I’d rather not look at a screen any more.
This all said, congrats!!
Waaay too old…
Of course not, dude. I switched careers from music to software dev at 28 without any formal education (now 7yrs later a senior dev).
I relied entirely on linkedin for my most reason job switch. Make sure to set up a few alerts for search queries (/job titles) and apply as quickly as you can (it is a little stressful, I agree).
When job openings have the ‘easy apply’ thing, don’t bother and simply move on (I’ve NEVER had a meaningful response to any of these). Also, don’t bother if an opening already has more than 25 applicants (unless your resume is outstanding).
Indeed seemed to have nosedived in the last few years; monsterboard was never a success for me either. For me linkedin has been the only meaningful portal. Hang in there!
Generally they don’t, which makes it more ‘intentional’ when they do. Usually the numbers are <30.
